YIKES! Winter is a comin'

~The road leading to our home ~

Autumn is still showing forth her beauty
but we have already had two incredible snow storms
here in the Rocky Mountains.
Our first storm started with rain and thunder
and then through out the night it turned into a heavy and wet snow fall
bringing down a number of the aspen trees around our yard.
What a shock when I looked out of our bedroom window
that over looks our back yard!
I could hear in the night some noises
that I thought may have been thunder in the distance
and then rustling on the back deck that I figured was just the bear.
NOT!!
All those noises were trees snapping and falling to the ground.
What a sad sight...
We are still cleaning up the mess, all the while hoping that those trees that are leaning
will pop back up with time.
Just like that, our grounds were changed without warning.
Nothing stays the same, does it?

God has His ways of keeping us from getting too comfortable with life.
One of my daily prayers is that I never become complacent in life
or in my walk with the Lord.
I pray that God, through the Holy Spirit, will help me to learn
what His Word says, what it means, and what it means for my own life.
James compared the Bible to a mirror (James 1:22).
As we gaze into the Word of God, we see ourselves reflected in it.
"But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only,
deceiving your own selves."
I pray that I will never walk away from God's mirror without making
the needed changes through the help of the Holy Spirit.
But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty,
and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer,
but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in His deed."
(James 1:25)
Is God's Word written on your heart in such a way
that you have fallen in love with Scripture?

Well my dear friends, life has certainly had its changes here with mom.
Mom was working diligently with her physical therapy
and pressing forward towards the day when her and I would leave for Arizona,
only to find herself  at "ground zero" and back in rehab.
Mom was given the flu shot and 12 hours later thought she was experiencing
flu symptoms only to find out that she had urosepsis, an infection
that spreads from the urinary tract to the blood stream, causing a systemic
infection that circulates through the body through the bloodstream.
Her blood pressure dropped and is still low, and I believe she was in septic shock
when her legs became like jelly giving out on her,
as well as her confused mind.
How grateful I am that help arrives quickly through calling 911.
Over the past four weeks with mom's illness she has become very weak and frail.
Arizona, mom's winter home, still awaits her.
"The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry" By Robert Burns
No matter what our expected plans may be, something can still go wrong.
Once again I had to fall back my own words,
"Trust in the Lord, and rest in that trust."
God is in complete control of our lives no matter what our expected plans may be,
and life is all the sweeter when we give Him control.
You have been so faithful in holding mom and our family up in prayer
over these past three months and with a grateful heart
I want to express to you how very thankful I am.
FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART, THANK YOU!!
God in His grace and mercy touches the hearts of His people
and moves them to their knees on behalf of others.
I may never meet you face to face this side of Eternity,
but our spirits are joined together through the power of God
and the working of the Holy Spirit.
Because of Christ ~ life is beautiful!
♡♡♡
Sending you all my love and {{hugs}}

Joy!
~ Debbie ~

Dearest Debbie...hearing about your mom, and reading your words about what is happening causes me to pray harder for her. As I am always home now, due to illness, prayers are my constant companion. And what a privilege it is to pray for your mother during this time.

As Our Lord continues to mold each and everyone of us that love Him, more and more to His Image, I pray that you and your family continue to Trust in HIM and HIM only!

Seeing the snow is so comforting. I know it is not for some, but to me, it is a sign that God is still constant.

Sending you love and prayers...

Maria

Your snow photo is so pretty, we are still having high 80"s here.

Debbie, I do sympathise. My husband had Urosepsis early this year and it was awful. He was hospitalised for 2 weeks. Will continue to pray for your mum and for you and all the family.

I am so sorry to hear this news about your dear mother. You hit the nail on the head...when things are going good especially, it is SO easy to just take those days for granted but I have learned just like you have, we must not find ourselves doing that! God is there in good times and He lifts us up in the times that aren't so good. We need Him ALWAYS. I will pray for you, your mom and the rest of your family, Debbie. Thank you for sharing this, dear friend. ♥♥♥

Prayers for your mom Debbie and also that you get all the branches and limbs cleared from your property. We had a small snowstorm Monday and many trees in our neighborhood were broken and many have damage. We have a large tree in the backyard hanging over the neighbors fence and we will need to get that cut away and off her property so next time we have a snowstorm we will not have broken limbs and branches in her yard as she is a lovely lady. Thinking of you and praying because it is often as difficult for the caregivers because you are dealt such a tremendous responsibility. I hope your sweet mom makes a full recovery and you both can enjoy the lovely relationship you have. Many blessings for you. I Am very happy I stopped by today. I love the share with the encouraging words here too. Thanks. Take care.
HUGS,Anne

So sorry that your Mom is having to go through all of this. Having a loved one sick is a difficult thing. I love snow, but when it breaks trees and causes damage that is not good.

Yes, our spirits are joined through The Spirit, dear Debbie. I'm sorry to hear of this setback for your mom, but prayers continue upward for both of you. We can never, as you say, become complacent. Thank you for your sweet reminder. Love and blessings to you.

I am so sorry to hear of your mother's recent illness due to the flu shot. I know this has to be frustrating for her as well as you, not to mention frightening. Praying for her complete healing and renewed strength.
So thankful none of the trees fell on your home. I know how sad it is to see broken trees so unexpectedly. We had a lot of trees break during Hurricane Irma, and it definitely unsettles me to see them so broken and bent. Praying for your safety and return to "normal" soon, in every situation.

Well as I began reading this post I was horrified by the sight of that snow (and had to chuckle that you live in a place where when you hear 'snapping' noises at night, you simply think, 'Oh, must be a bear'!). And here I was whining that it has been raining for the past four days and no sunshine. Then I read of the new struggle with your poor mama. How frightening that must have been and yes, grateful for 911 and that she has stabilized. Praying that this setback will be temporary and she will be back on the road to recovery soon! Yes, we do make plans but of course we know, the Lord has His ways but still difficult to press on sometimes.

I'm sad to read about your mom and will keep her in my prayers. What a hard journey it must be for you all. And the snow! Oh my! Here in PA, we certainly get our share of it and I don't like it, ha, ha. Thankfully it hasn't reared it's cold head yet.

Wishing you a happy weekend!

Oh, Debbie. I am so sorry your mom has had to go through all these medical setbacks. it is just so hard to watch our parents get ill. My own mother passed away when she got sepsis from a urinary tract infection that went crazy. She had dementia so could not tell them what was going on with her until it was too late. Thank the good Lord your mom got help early. She will recover-it just takes longer as a person ages. We don't spring back like we did in our 20s/30s/40s. I will keep her in my prayers...and YOU, too. I know how hard it is on you as her daughter.

It was wonderful to see a post from you here today. I was away from blogging for a bit and slowly finding my way back to being here on a regular basis.

Love and blessings- Diana

We are seeing fall colors start in here. I love that. With the rain I have not been able to go take photos yet. But the rain is putting out the last of the forest fires near us. Hope Calif gets some to help them. Hurricanes, fires, floods,,,bad year.

Debbie, I'm sorry your mom took a step backwards. I'm still praying. Perhaps one of these days when you are in AZ we can visit together over a cup of tea.

Oh, no, Debbie! I am SO sorry to hear of your Mom's setback! I know how much she was looking forward to things getting back to normal. It is something how our "normal" perspective changes throughout life, isn't it? Bless her dear heart. This is just heartbreaking, and I do trust Jesus to lay His healing hand on your dear mother. My own precious Mom had the same condition, and I know how hard all of this is. May God bless and hold all of you close to His heart during this difficult time.

Dear Debbie,

Reading this post really touched my heart. I will be keeping you, your mom and all your family in my thoughts and prayers. My father was diagnosed with cancer 2 years ago and is now in the final stages, and, doctors believe, will be going to home to God soon. I felt an immediate connection with you as I read about your mom's struggles. Watching our parents go through physical trauma is such a difficult situation. Thank you for sharing this post and blessings to you and your family.

Storms, your mom's ill health, you certainly have been pressed from all sides, Debbie. Isn't it reassuring to know that the Lord has us in His hands every moment; those good moments and those that aren't so. I will be thinking of and praying for you whilst you look after your mum. Take care.

Sweet Debbie, I am so very sorry to hear about your precious Mom. I will be praying for your family. Big hugs and hang in there!

The snow is gorgeous!!!! But, I must confess I am not ready for that drastic of a change yet. Cooler temps are fine with me where I can wear a light jacket and enjoy the crisp autumn mornings on the porch.

Much love to you and strength for the coming days. Please fell free to call me anytime. Anytime, my friend!

My dear friend, I never fail to see the love of Christ shine through your life through the ups and downs. You are such an encouragement, because in all the problems you have been through, you still "shine' with patience and love. God bless you and your mom. Hope that she is on the way to total recovery and can soon enjoy her home again. Hugs.

Oh my, to make so much progress and then to have a flu shot reverse all that is so upsetting! I heard about the snow in Colorado and it is beautiful! Too early but so pretty. I am sure it doesn't make your commute back and forth very easy though. Prayers for you and your family. Your faith is getting you through!

I'm sorry to hear your mom has had a setback Debbie. You are a good and faithful daughter to her, and I'm sure she is grateful for your good care of her. You are also such a good example to us all of being patient in affliction. Prayers offered for you both. xo Deborah

My hope is for her to regain strength and have the winter in AZ experience still possible~
Yet, in the midst of these difficulties I see the Lords work as well.
I'm sooo grateful you were with her and caring for her.
I see the loving prayer and support by so many who follow you~
And the blessings you feel as you spend this time with her; this gift.

Oh Debbie I am so sorry to hear your mom had a set back in her health. - I've not been visiting many blogs lately due to several unforseen happenings in my own life and just not saw this post. - I pray that she heals quickly and things will go forward with her return to her Arizone home for the winter.

Yikes, Snow already. - We've had some in our own mountains but thankfully nothing here in town (yet). It's raining today and not very warm but that is better to me then snow.

God Bless you all.

My dear Debbie I am so sorry to hear about all that you've been through with your mom and then all of the snow that caused such havoc in your trees in your yard. I've been in prayer for you and your mom. I hope that your mom is better by this time and able to soon get back to doing what she loves to do. My mother-in-law suffered the exactly same thing and it was a difficult struggle for her. But she is doing much better now. I will pray that your mom recovers quickly and is able to get well soon!! I've just finished with my second carpal tunnel surgery and I'm doing pretty good. I'm thankful to have the surgeries behind me! Hugs to you dear friend, let me know how you are doing!
