For a number of years now I have been collecting jewels,
well, jewels to me.
These jewels are brooches ~ pins that are quite unique in their own way.
As I've collected these jewels my mind has been busy thinking of
a way to use them for God's glory.
I've thought about using them in a Ladies Retreat
or a seniors program, with the youth or maybe during a Tea Party.
It's all in God's timing but in the meantime
I will continue to gather up my jewels and wait upon the Lord.
I thought a good devotion would be on the Fruits of the Spirit
using these beautiful brooches in representing the jewels
that adorn our life found in Galatians 5:22
on the Fruits of the Spirit.
"But the fruit of the Spirit is ~
love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, self- control
Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ's
have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Let us not become conceited, provoking one another,
envying one another. "
~ Galatians 5:22-26 ~
As the bride of Christ ~ He will know us by the jewelry we wear.
He will know us by what He has bestowed upon us.
The " fruit" of the Holy Spirit refers to the godly attributes of those
who " walk in the Spirit."
The fruit of the Spirit should characterize the life of every believer.
These godly virtues are evidence of salvation
and the genuine work of the Holy Spirit.
Each of the fruit of the Spirit responds to the nature of Christ.
He looks into our life, sees what He recognizes as coming
from Him and accepts it.
I'm thinking the biggest jewel of all is that of worship.
The glorious jewel of worship in all its beauty as we
practice the presence of God, pursuing Him with all of our time and energy
with amazement of His love and grace.
To have hearts aflame for God!
When God sees our worship, purified by the Spirit and the Blood,
He responds and recognizes it as His.
~ The Fruits of the Spirit ~
Love ~ the love of choice, respect, devotion and affection
that leads to willing, self-sacrificial service.
Joy ~ it's a gift from God. Its the sense of wellbeing experienced by one
who knows all is well between himself and the Lord.
Joy can even occur in and through painful circumstances.
Joy isn't just a happiness of heart.
Peace ~ the inner calm that results from confidence in one's saving relationship
with Christ. A sense of having it all together, even in difficult circumstances.
Longsuffering/Patience ~ the ability to endure injuries inflicted by others and the
willingness to accept painful situations.
Kindness ~ tender concern for others, willing to treat others gently.
Goodness ~ moral and spiritual excellence manifested in active kindness.
Believers are commanded to show forth goodness.
Faithfulness ~ loyalty and trustworthiness.
Gentleness ~ a humble and gentle attitude. Submission to the will of God,
teachable and considerate of others.
Self-Control ~ restraining passions and appetites.
When a Christian walks in the Spirit and manifests his fruit,
he doesn't need the law to produce the attitudes and behavior that please God.
Our Lord Jesus Christ knows who we are by our jewelry
which He has given us
He is our Lord and He desires our beauty.
As women, are we adorned with the jewels God has given us
to show the world Who we belong to?
"Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning
of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold,
or of putting on of apparel.
But let it be of the hidden man of the heart,
in that which is not corruptible,
even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit,
which is in the sight of God of great price."
~ 1 Peter 3:3&4 ~

What a lovely devotional, Debbie....and some very pretty brooches too.
My mother always wore a brooch, but they dont seem to be as popular nowadays.
Beautiful jewels and the way you relate them to the fruits of the Spirit!!
Blessings and much Joy to you!❤️
Oh, such lovely "jewels"! I was going through my jewelry the other day and looking at the old brooches, some which belonged to my husband's grandmother and also some his mother gave me. None of which are valuable in a monetary sense, but very valuable because of who they belonged to. I love your idea of using these in a devotional for women...any of the ways you were thinking would be wonderful. Please share with us when you do. I think we should wear these beautiful gems, even if they are old or in my case, some have a few missing small stones, but they are still so lovely...and I would love to wear them in honor of the wonderful women who once wore them who are now precious jewels in Jesus' Crown in heaven...This was lovely, and you've given me some ideas as well. I hope you don't mind if I share your thoughts at some point when an appropriate time is given? You've stimulated my thinking today!! Have a blessed day, you are a precious jewel in God's Sight!!!
Hello Debbie,
What a lovely post! you have such a nice collection of brooches. I see them very often in vintage and antique shops and can't help but be intrigued by them. I will be interested in seeing how you use these brooches. All of your ideas sound wonderful, especially the ladies retreat....I know you will be guided to use them for the highest good!
Trying to reestablish a presence in the blogging world, I have missed my blogging friends. I was just at Stephanie's and I printed off her churro recipe. Three new recipes to try as I catch up on all that I have missed out on. Hope you are well! Sending hugs, Linda
What a beautiful post! Not only the jewels, but also the thoughts and words. So sweet your comments on the "fruit of the Spirit". The word "faith" includes not only faithfulness, but our belief (faith) and reliance on Christ for our salvation. I am so glad that we can rely on His faithfulness. Thanks for sharing this. Hugs.
Sweetest post ever and oh am I loving those beautiful jewels. Those shoes........Oh be still my heart! You are so precious! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
They are all so beautiful and I love this post with words of encouragement for us all! Enjoy your week sweet lady! Hugs, Diane
A beautiful post Debbie! I had to practice Self Control this weekend. A movie that everyone was talking about this Autumn came out on DVD. I was tempted to watch it, because (it seemed like) everyone was blogging about or talking about it. It is rated R, something I do not like. I began to not want to watch it no matter how many other folks had talked about it. I just do not want to hear the F word or watch naked people.. I SAID NO! I am glad I listened to God talking to me.
I am blabbing.. THANK YOU for this post.
Love, Carla
P.S. I love the shoes!!
What a wonderful post! Filled with beauty and encouragement.
Thank you and God bless you as you look for these jewels and pray about a way in which to give them to others.
Happy Spring ~ FlowerLady
That is a beautiful devotional. I will likely never read those verses the same way again.I want to remember that each of these things listed is a jewel, which I can display for God's glory.
You have a beautiful collection there don't you.
Isn't it amazing that as sinful as we are that God sees us like these beautiful jewels, so shiny and pretty.
I pray my actions and words always are a reflection of Jesus and his love!
What a lovely, lovely collection of jewels you have, Debbie...and I love how you have used them in this post to demonstrate those beautiful scriptures. I have a collection as well and I go through them from time to time to just look at them or use them in a photo shoot. Well, I will never look at them quite the same. Thank you for sharing your "jewel of a heart", dear friend! Love & Hugs!
Dear Debbie this post is so wonderful. It is like opening up one of my devotionals and finding riches in the word. Thanks for blessing me with your thoughts as well as the Word of God. Hugs!
A very sweet post, filled with positivity, faith, and encouragement!
You will find a special way to share your 'jewels' of that, I'm certain.
When we have daily prayer, we ask that we will be inspired to find those that we can serve. You have a heart of service and kindness, and I appreciate the inspiration for service in this post :)
Smiles :)

What a beautiful "jewel" of a post, Debbie! I must say that Galatians 5:22 is my most favorite!! That particular verse has always spoken to me, and I so loved that you shared it, and described each word. Thank you for your lovely wisdom that you share with us. Love and hugs are sent to you....
Such a lovely post. I love the brooches, especially the red shoes, hummingbird and heart with rubies and diamonds look. The hummingbird reminds me of my mother, the heart of my love in my life now and the shoes of my childhood. I have seen beautiful bridal bouquets made from brooches. Maybe you can display them like that!!
Another outstanding post, Debbie! A very well written and thoughtful analogy. I happily read it twice. Thank you!
Beautiful brooches, how beautiful to explain this to God's glory!
It fits in perfectly with your gentle mind.
Thank you Debbie for this wonderful devotion. Oh and I just love those shoe earrings!
This was such a lovely post, both in words and pictures. My oh my, what a beautiful collection of brooches! There are some that I have never seen before like the tube of lipstick - how cute is that!
Thank you for sharing such a sweet, beautiful, and meaningful post. Love and hugs to you!
Debbie, I didn't know you'd opened up your blog again! What a joy to stumble on it again! I have very few jewels here on earth. Mine hopefully are all in my crown that I'll receive later. Lovely post, Debbie.
What a stunning collection of jewels! Your thoughts are always lovely
Hugs
Hello Debbie~
Such a lovely analogy you have shared here friend!
I have for years tried to take the 1Ptr 3 passage to heart,
yielding myself to Him. It is not what we 'put' on; on the outside
but it is truly the hidden man of the heart - our spirit~
Thanks for sharing Debbie : ) Hugs, karen o
Dear Debbie, Oh such a lovely blog post. I just love the scripture reminders here! Wonderful!
The brooches are so pretty! I like brooches, I wear them on a cardigan many times, it's that vibe I so love. I bet you have fun with yours!
Take care dear one! Love, Amelia
Such beautiful insights in comparing these jewels to the jewels of the spirit! Your brooch collection is lovely - I'm a vintage brooch collector as well! I have some from my grandmother and my mom and others I've just purchased online or at estate sales. I wear them a lot too!
The blue brooch is stunning and the others are also very pretty. I enjoyed your devotional based on the fruit of the spirit.
Have a pleasant weekend.
What lovely brooches Debbie! And you always have such good words for us to ponder, thank you. I've missed several of your posts so I scrolled back -- happy belated birthday!! It sounds like a lovely celebration, and wow, did your husband and Stephanie take good care of you. What fun to open 60 gifts, all especially tailored for you. Blessings to you dear lady, and I pray for a wonderful new decade in your life. xo Deborah
Such a beautiful collection of brooches, Debbie! All of them so unique and beautiful! I have seen people take a piece of velvet and form the brooches into a shape, such as a heart or a Christmas tree with their collection and then have it framed. They are just gorgeous, and I really enjoyed your devotional to go along with it, what a beautiful way to adorn ourselves, with the fruit of His spirit. Powerful message you've shared... blessings and hugs to you :)
