Grandma Maxie with two of her sons ~ my precious dad is sitting next to grandma
Uncle Spike was instrumental in my salvation and my personal relationship with Jesus
My mother was going through her things doing some more purging
when she came across some old hand written letters by
my Grandmother (dads mother).
She asked if I would like them and happily, I said yes!
Grandma always began her letters with ~ Good Morning,
as she was an early riser and made her way out to her little
"Rancho Chico" as soon as she was able.
Grandma loved the outdoors and played on her little ranch with delight.
I'm pretty sure I took after Grandma Maxie in that respect, why,
once the weather is warm I absolutely DO NOT want to be inside!
I believe Grandma knew that if she didn't write her letters
first thing in the morning, then they would never be written.
Hand written letters are becoming a lost art, yet,
I think we can all say that we enjoy a hand written letter
delivered to us in our mail box now and then, don't we?
I actually enjoy writing personal words to others either
in a card or on pretty stationary, which is hard to find these days.

In one of my daily Devotional readings the topic was on ~
"Writing Letters"
quite fitting I thought as I had just received my Grandmother's letters.
2 Corinthians 3:2
"Ye are our epistle written in our hearts,
known and read of all men."
♡♡♡
The apostle Paul's words ~ "that those who follow Jesus
are "a letter from Christ," who were
"written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God."
2 Corinthians 3:3
"Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the
epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink,
but with the Spirit of the living God;
not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart."
♡♡♡
Paul encouraged the church in Corinth to keep on following
the true and living God as he had previously taught.
In doing so, he memorably described the believers as Christ's letter.
Their transformed lives were a more powerful witness to the
Spirit's work than any written letter could be.
God's Spirit in us writes a story of grace and redemption!
It is our lives that are best witness to the truth of the Gospel,
for they speak volumes through our compassion,
service, gratitude, and joy.
What message might you send today?
Please know that as it states in John 17:3 ~ It is never too late
to enter into a personal relationship with God thru His Son, Jesus Christ.
Open your heart to Him!
"And this is the life eternal, that they might know thee
the only true God, and Jesus Christ,
whom thou has sent."

The time has arrived for mom to return home,
so Arizona, here we come!
I will be driving "Miss Daisy" back home
and staying in Arizona for a few weeks in order to
get mom and her home up and running after being away over the Summer.
Mom will have hand surgery while I'm with her
so I will be able to look after her needs.
Once again ~ may I ask for your prayers as we travel and for her surgery?
There is great peace in knowing others are in prayer with you
and I certainly covet your prayers. ♡
Joy!

Debbie, you reminded me of my grandma's letters. I still have a few! They are like yours, a bright day and nice thoughts, simplicity, outdoors. My grandma was a painter and bird-watcher in her later years. She wrote wonderful letters. I've started doing the same. (It IS hard to find stationery!) Everyone I send letters to says how good it is to receive them like in the "old days" of just a few years ago. Ha ha!!
Oh Debbie! Hand written letters are so special! I will be praying for you as you travel. Arizona is such a lovely state to live in. When you drive through Prescott wave and yell hello. I will hear you from Chino Valley where I live.😊
And if you want a detour and want to take a break for tea, you are welcome to stop at my house!
I have kept one precious letter from my Grandma. Letters are becoming a thing of the past sadly.
Will keep your travel in prayer, Debbie.
I enjoyed reading about your grandmother! I love that she wrote her letters in the morning. That is a good idea!
I hope you are all feeling well!
Beautiful your sharing of your grandmother's letters along with the wonderful scripture. I also love writing letters and postcards, and sometimes make stationary "sets" though haven't done so in a while, your post encourages me to do it more!! Blessings and prayers for your Mom's surgery and your travels.♡
I know you're going to be safe in our loving Lord's watch-care while you travel and help your mom. Such a blessing you'll both be to each other! I look forward to hearing about Arizona!!! hugs, my friend
Hello Friend,
I enjoy writing letters. I write my boys letters every now and then and leave them by their bedsides. During Sam's time at Basic Training last year, letter writing was our only way of communication. It was my favorite time of the day when the mailman came and I saw an envelope with US ARMY on it, I knew it was from Sam.
Great post Debby,
I will be praying for you and your family.

What sweet memories you have of your grandma, and lovely letters to treasure. Thank you for sharing the verses with us. Debby. How kind of you to take your mom to Arizona and to stay while she has her surgery. You’re a faithful daughter. Prayers will continue for you and your mom. Blessings to you......
Praying that all will go well, the surgery be successful and healing will be quick.
Hi Debbie, lovely post.
You have my prayers for both travel and your mum's surgery. I love letters too, and am reminded through your post to send one to my brother who lives in Australia. The greatest and most loving letter in my whole life has always been the precious Words that the Holy Spirit has sent me through that living Word. Thank God for Jesus through Whom we have eternal life with our Father God.
God bless you.
Hello dear Debbie...
How lovely it is to stop in for a little visit with you this chilly August morning.
Ah...I just love letters; both sending and receiving them. I love to write to sweet friends, telling them about my day...where I am sitting, what the weather is doing, what the Lord has been teaching me lately, etc. It is so special to know some dear person will take the time to read my ramblings.
And receiving a letter in the mail has to be on of the most thrilling things ever! I love what you shared today... Thank you for the lovely encouragement!
Keeping you in prayer as you travel, and your mom as she has surgery. With much dear love!
How blessed you were to receive those wonderful letters...I know they must mean so much to you. I do not have any memories of any of my grandparents or letters to go with them but since my own mother was old enough to be my grandma, I relate a lot of other's relationships with grandmas to my own mom. Although I do not have any letters that she had written, I cherish the hand-written recipes I still have. There's something about holding that piece of paper containing words written by her own hand that connects me to her. This is such a wonderful post and my prayers are with you as you drive "Miss Daisy" home...also prayers for a successful surgery and fast recovery! Love & Hugs!
Dear Debbie, What joy to have those letters; all of my grandparents passed before I was born, which is why I cherish being a nana so much. What a treasure to have those letters.
May angles surround you and your mom as you travel back o Arizona. I know that you will be such a blessing for her.
Joy to you today.

I have a few of the letters my grandmother wrote to me. We wrote to each other often.
Praying that you have safe travels and the surgery goes well.
I have a stack of letters sent me throughout my childhood and they are real treasures! Finding a real letter in the mailbox alongside all the advertisements and magazines makes for a special day!
Bless you girl! I wish I'd saved letters when I was young. You never realize how much you want and need to remember until you get older it seems.
I'm so glad you can go with your mama. I understand about the meds. It was a real job when Lowell was recovering from his knee surgery. It went well, and he's recovered well. Thank you for the prayers and your encouragement.
Hugs to you!

I am thinking of you and praying for you and your dear Mom, sweet friend. May God bless and keep you both safe and help her through her surgery. Keep in touch, if you can, and let me know when you are there safe. Much love and Godspeed to you!
Oh, I LOVE writing letters! I started penpalling around the age of 11 and still do it to this day. It's my "fun mail". :) Praying for your travels and your mom. :)
love old letters and photos from my family, they are dear to me. We can cherish those memories.
Many blessings for you and your dear mother!
I am a bit behind in my reading, and am just now seeing this. Praying all has been well with you and for your mother, and that she is healing well by now. Yes, I also love old hand-written letters and cards. I hate to throw them away and have many saved. I was thinking about this earlier that we don't write letters by hand anymore, and future generations will not have any tangible proof that we lived...I know there are other things, but letters seem to live on, the words from the heart of that dear one linger on the written page and it's like they are right here with us again. I am guilty of not writing as my handwriting has deteriorated so much since the computer age took over, and it is so much easier to type than write. But there is a huge difference, and I feel badly about it. Thank you for sharing these thoughts today, as I have been thinking about it very much lately. Have a blessed time with your mother, and take care in your journeys. God bless you always.
