~ A look into Proverbs ~
"For the Lord giveth wisdom:
out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding."
(Proverbs 2:6)
~~~***~~~
Proverbs contains the very wisdom of God
given to show us the value
of living prudently ~ or to be cautious.
~~~***~~~
"She openeth her mouth with wisdom;
and in her tongue is the law of kindness."
(Proverbs 31:26)
~~~***~~~
This woman's words are graced with
wisdom, kindness and love.
That is a requirement for being a virtuous woman,
one that I believe we all desire to be.
As hard as it may be
we must be careful how we speak to others.
Many times our human response is to react
with quick and foolish words
that we know we will eventually regret.
Only when it is too late
do we stop to consider the effect our words had on someone.
~~~***~~~
Let it be our prayer that we
stop, think and consider our words
before we open our mouths.
Let us look to the Lord, asking Him
to put words of wisdom, kindness and love
on our tongues, that we may build others up
instead of destroying them.
I believe we have all been eyewitnesses
to some damage that has been done
through the tongue.
Gossip ~ slander ~ hostility ~ cursing ~ and put-downs
are just a few of the things that spew out of our mouths.
Over 150 times Proverbs refers to
our lips our mouth and our tongue. WOW!
~~~***~~~
May we as women grace our lives
in the purity found in the Word of God,
and openeth our mouths with wisdom.
May there be a sweetness that spews out
touching the heart of the one whom we are speaking to.
Grace & Peace be yours
In Abundance!
Very good post Debbie ~ I have regrets over things said in the past, thank God He forgives and forgets when we have a repentant heart. May I move forward in His grace and tender mercies. I wish to be gracious and kind, full of God's love and mercy.
Good morning!
Such a lovely, inspiring post to greet me today...
Thank you for these words.
Have a cozy day.
We are staying in and being cozy. : )
Yes, there has been words that I regret saying, I ask God for forgiveness and strive to be more aware of my words.
What a lovely little devotion to read today. Thank you for a great reminder!! Hope you're having a wonderful Lord's Day!
Amen...aaamen....
This speaks to me today...I will refer to this post throughout the week Debbie.
Thank you for this series.
Have a blessed week.
What a beautiful post to reflect on this evening. Thank you! I hope you've had a wonderful Sunday.
As James 3:5 says, " Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!" I must admit my tongue has gotten me in trouble so many times. Thank you for the lovey reminder to watch my tongue.
Hi Debbie! Your post reminds me of a Psalm that says something about having a watchman at the gate of my mouth. I love that. I wish I had one!
I am trying to be better at thinking about what I say before I say it. I do tend to blurt things out, and it's not always the best version of what I would want to say. May God bless us to speak his comforting words to each other.
Blessings!
Thanks Deborah. I needed this today.
I think we are all guilty of saying something we shouldn't have... I am thankful the Lord forgives AND gives second chances.
Your post reminds me of a challenge I heard at camp...if we paused for at least 5 seconds and thought about what we are going to say than we would probably cut our speech in half. Thank you for encouraging me to use my words wisely - how I pray God will speak through me.
Love you!
Debbie, your post is so lovely and inspiring, and the music is so relaxing and soothing.
I am not sure if you get this or not, but I just got a station called AHC (American Heroes Channel) and tonight there was a fascinating series of Bible stories. I was thoroughly involved in it and enjoyed the programs.
Hi, Debbie. Thank you for a great post. Our tongues can certainly get us into trouble and many times I don't edify the Lord with mine as I should. Thank you for visiting my blog. It was a pleasure to visit here.
Happy New Year Debbie... Your post carries an important message for all... I do believe that we should all think before we speak... even the smallest words can scar.... This is such a wise post..Thank You for sharing..
This is such a beautiful post, Debbie. I am guilty more times than I care to admit of how my mouth has been opened before my brain kicked in. Thank you for this lovely reminder and scripture references. I hope your week is getting off to a great start!
