Christ's Peace

Hello Dear friends!
One day last week my heart was anxious,
and if I were to pin point as to why
I'm really not sure I could,
I was just anxious.
As I started into my daily activities
I felt as though I needed some extra "quiet time"
spent with the Lord.
I sat down in my cozy chair
opened the Word of God again,
 then prayed a prayer asking God
to meet me in and through His word
so as to calm my anxious heart,
covering me with His peace.
My God was faithful!

I was led of the Lord to read John chapter 14,
and by the time I was finished reading and studying
I had the peace of God dwelling within my heart.
Jesus is the Master of ALL our situations,
and He enables us to take control of our lives
(even our anxious moments)
as we surrender to Him
and receive His peace.
~~~***~~~
While reading chapter 14 of the book of John,
I was reminded of the ministry
of the Holy Spirit. The one thing that God
kept pressing upon my heart was found in verse 27.
"Peace I leave with you,
my peace I give unto you:
not as the world giveth, give I unto you.
Let not your heart be troubled,
neither let it be afraid."
~~~***~~~
God through the Holy Spirit began to pour
His peace upon me.
My anxious heart began to relax as I meditated
on not only verse 27 but all of chapter 14.
God was reminding me through the Scriptures
that He would NEVER leave me,
and that I need NOT be afraid.
God was also reminding me that He,
through the Holy Spirit,
was my "Helper," that He would "come along side" of me
 as my helper~teacher~guide and encourager. (Verse 16)
~~~***~~~
I then began to search my heart...
What was I so anxious about?
Was there a situation that was bothering me?
Was there sin in my life that I needed to confess? (1 John 1:9)
Question after question I laid at the Masters feet
waiting as the Holy Spirit began to reveal
my anxieties.
Again~My God was faithful!
I laid my burdens down at the foot of the cross,
the burden I was trying to carry...
I confessed my sin praying Psalm 51
as David had prayed, and said,
"Against You, You only, have I sinned." (Psalm 51:4)
"My heart was washed clean" (Psalm 51:2)
"My spirit was renewed" (Psalm 51:10)
And "my joy was full". (John 15:11)
In quietness and confidence
I met with Jesus,
and in His faithfulness He met with me
right where I was,
in need of His love and grace.
Often times we try and carry those burdens which trouble us
only to find we are weak in our own strength.
God has promised to carry those loads for us
if we would only surrender them to Him
and receive His peace.
When we call upon the name of the Lord,
He is faithful!
~~~***~~~

Thank you Heavenly Father,
for Your faithfulness to us.
Thank you for Your Word that teaches us
how to live in every area of our lives.
Draw us close to Thee,
that we might know You more
through the Scriptures,
bringing honor and glory to Your Holy name.
Amen.

Grace & Peace

Such a good reminder of the power of the Holy Spirit. When we get weighed down by the cares of this world, it is easy to forget that we have the Comforter living in us. I'm often guilty of not taking time first to be quiet before God, getting my day into perspective.

Thank you Debbie, for this inspiring post! I will be reading John 14 this evening and praying for that same peace. I have been exceptionally blue lately and although I know some of the reasons, they do not warrant the degree that it is. Maybe I just need some sun, or Son!!

As I read this, I was trying to visualize you sitting in your comfy chair...reading, pondering, praying...maybe shedding a tear or two. It must have been a wonderful time...just you and the Lord. How blessed we are to be given the ability and the opportunities to commune with our Creator like that! Thank you for sharing this special moment, my friend.

This post really touches me because I had a similar experience this past week. I told Our Lord about something that I kept worrying about from the past. The answer I was immediately given could only have come from him. I have been at peace since then.
I wish more people would understand that we are never alone. He really does care, individually, for all of us!

Receiving the peace of God rushing over you is one of the best feelings there is, so thankful he gave us his word to turn to in our time of need and rejoicing!

This is a perfect "tutorial" on what to do when we are feeling anxious or fearful or troubled. Thank you for reminding us "how to."

I know what you mean, Debbie, and how you were feeling. I try to remember that when I am feeling that way I just need to turn it over and give it to God. That is not always easy to do and sometimes I reclaim it...but I know that He is in charge of it all. xo Diana

Hi Debbie! Your patience in prayer really allowed you to absorb the peace that the Lord wanted you to have. How often I give up, thinking he is not with me!

I agree with the idea that I am so weak, I can't possibly carry all the burdens I feel. Especially the ones that I seem to make up for myself. Ugh. Giving it all to God, that's the key. Then I will feel lighter, just as you did.

Such a great instruction today. Thank you!

He will keep in perfect peace those whose mind is stayed on HIM. So want my mind to be "stayed" on HIM. Yes, I am seeking peace. My dad used to say if we could get God's peace, we could handle anything. Yes, mam! I believe that! Beautiful post.

Amen to your prayer. That verse brings such comfort doesn't it. I am continually amazed at how God brings us just the right verses just when we need them most. Your photos are just lovely too Debbie!

Hi Debbie,
The verse you mention at first, John 14:27, it the first verse I learned really purposefully by heart at the age of 13 ... And it has given me peace in the times of doubt and anxiety ever since. The word of our Lord is living and active!
Blessings to your weekend,
Nina
